The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) joined with representatives from Haiti’s Ministry of Tourism and Ecole Hoteliere d’Haiti to launch the CHTAEF-Haiti Project Spoken Hospitality English Program on Friday, February 10, 2023.
Karolin Troubetzkoy, Chairwoman of the CHTAEF shared that Haiti’s Minister of Tourism, Cassandra Francois, was a student in the CHTA Education Foundation – Haiti Project Foundation Year training in 2011.
“Congratulations on your work within the Ministry of Tourism, initially as Personal Assistant to the Minister, and now as Minister, representing the natural wonders, creativity and world heritage sites that Haiti has in abundance. Thank you for supporting this new initiative from the Education Foundation, we are so pleased to be working with you,” Mrs Troubetzkoy said.
Karine Conde Emeran, Directrice of Ecole Hoteliere d’Haiti was commended for the professional standards, their energy and focus of the students at the hospitality school in Les Cayes when last the CHTAEF – Haiti Project visited.
Through a series of dynamic, active and participatory classes over 12 weeks, students will learn Hospitality English. The aim is to support each student by developing their listening to understand and respond empathetically skills and exposing them to various hospitality scenarios and with lots of opportunities to practice English in hotel and restaurant situations.
The course is being delivered by Kenel and Bapthol Joseph of Nexus.
CHTAEF – Haiti Project is pleased to once again work with Kenel who delivered for our 2011/12 Foundation Year. Many of those students are now working in management positions in English-speaking service and hospitality businesses in the Caribbean region and America.
