In recognition of World Tourism Day, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) is excited to announce a new partnership with George Washington University. The new partnership will provide Caribbean hospitality professionals access to a suite of comprehensive certification courses in Tourism Resilience and Destination Stewardship. This suite of courses offers professional development opportunities covering a broad range of key topics.
Through this partnership, Caribbean professionals can apply for financial support from the Tourism Resilience Scholarship Fund, established by Saint Lucia’s Jade Mountain Resort in collaboration with the CHTAEF, to enroll in these courses.
These certification programs equip destination managers and hospitality professionals with the knowledge and skills to manage destinations sustainably, balancing economic, environmental, and social needs. Participants will also gain the expertise needed to adapt to challenges like climate change, natural disasters, and economic shifts, ensuring the long-term sustainability and resilience of tourism-dependent regions.
Key Course Features include:
- Training on Destination Stewardship and Resilience-Building, addressing the long-term sustainability of tourism.
- Real-world case studies on best practices for managing tourism impacts and mitigating hazards in tourism-heavy regions, particularly coastal areas.
- Practical exercises to create tailored strategies that enhance the resilience and sustainability of Caribbean tourism destinations.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with George Washington University on this initiative,” said Karolin Troubetzkoy, Chair of the Education Foundation. “This partnership aligns with our mission to provide Caribbean professionals with critical skills for managing tourism sustainably, while also preparing them for future challenges. The Tourism Resilience Scholarship Fund ensures these courses are accessible to all professionals, regardless of financial constraints.”
The Tourism Resilience Scholarship Fund supports Caribbean professionals and students pursuing education in sustainable tourism practices, destination stewardship, and resilience-building. This partnership with George Washington University significantly broadens the scope of professional development opportunities for those shaping the future of tourism in the Caribbean.
