Omar Robinson is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Arya Resorts Management Company Limited since October 1, 2020, a start-up hospitality management company located in Montego Bay, Jamaica. His experience in the industry spans over 30 years. He began his career as an Entertainment Coordinator at Sandals Resorts and after completing management training, was quickly promoted to several managerial positions including Resident Manager. His most recent appointment was General Manager of the Round Hill Hotel and Villas, located in Hopewell, Hanover, Jamaica for 17 years. Omar displays his leadership style everyday by being very hands-on and involved in all aspects of his team’s activities.

A past student of Ferncourt High School in Claremont, St. Ann, Omar is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Organizational Leadership from Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska, USA. He attended the Nova Southeastern and Southern New Hampshire Universities, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Management, majoring in Hospitality Management and a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership respectively. He presently holds the Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation from the American Hotel & Lodging Association. In 2008, he was awarded a joint scholarship from the CHTA Education Foundation and Round Hill Hotel to attend the General Manager’s Program at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. He also holds a Master Certificate in the Essentials of Hospitality Management from Cornell University. In 2012, he was awarded the Hotelier of the Year by the JHTA.

Omar continues to be involved in tourism industry and local community. Over the period of 2016-2020, he served as President of the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association (JHTA). He has also served the association in previous capacities as 1st Vice President and Chairman of the Montego Bay Chapter. He is a Board Director of the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) and also sits on the board of the Educational Foundation of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourist Association (CHTAEF). He has previously served as the Chairman of the Northwest TVET Institute/Kenilworth HEART Management Advisory Committee and on the Board of Directors of the Tourism Product Development Corporation (TPDCO).

To share his knowledge and experience, Omar lectures part-time in tourism related courses at the Western Hospitality Institute and leadership/ management courses at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (Montego Bay Campus). Omar enjoys travelling, gym and socializing.
